Summer 2010 Workshops

In 2010 our two day workshops in painting will feature watercolour approaches to a variety of subject matter. Again we will offer our ever popular floorcloth workshops in which participants will produce their own finished floorcloth. The workshops are offered from June until October to take full advantage of the passing of the seasons in the garden and landscape. We offer both weekend and midweek dates to accommodate most schedules.

Groups of six or more may call to arrange their own dates on a first come first served basis subject to instructor availability.

Watercolour

June 14 & 15 - Absolute Beginner's Watercolour with Martha Robinson

Taking the mystery out of watercolour by starting from the ground up, mastering washes, value and colour.

July 17 & 18 - The Lavender Field for Painters, painting with Martha Robinson

Landscape painting en plein air, timed to take advantage of glorious views of the field, with demonstrations and exercises in our barn classroom to get started.

August 24 & 25 - Animals from life: Watercolour with Martha Robinson

With live models on hand this class starts with demonstrations and exercises from photographs to understand capturing an animal portrait before we focus on learning to paint from life.

Floorcloth Design

June 28 & 29 - Beginner's Painted Floorcloth with Martha Robinson

Make your own colourful painted floorcloth popular in the 1840s and 50s, a must for the well-appointed homes of Upper Canada. Decorative techniques used include decoupage, taping, stencilling, stamping and more.

July 19 to 22 - New! Large Floorcloth with Martha Robinson

For those with a little more experience with paint or floorcloth creation a four day course allowing time to create (or start) a room-sized version to suit your decor!

August 26 & 27 - Beginner's Painted Floorcloth with Martha Robinson

We are offering our popular beginner's or small floorcloth course a second time this summer!

Mosaic

July 26 & 27 - Mosaic Table for Beginners

Using glass tiles or broken china (recycle those loved but broken pieces!) create a mosaic tabletop for patio or anywhere!
